Good news for Sony E-mount users, Samyang AF 45mm F1.8 FE is launched. This is a tiny 162 gram autofocus lens that fits well in the Alpha bodies.

Korean lens maker, Samyang Optics has been in the aggressive mode of late to introduce a series of new prime lenses, especially targeting the Sony E-mount users. The big market share of the full frame mirrorless gained by Sony over the years translate into huge business opportunities to third-party lens makers, and Samyang is seen riding the wave.

Today, Samyang has introduced a standard prime lens, the AF 45mm F1.8 FE. The focal length is out of the norm at 45mm, in between 35mm and 50mm because in their catalogue, they already have an AF 50mm F1.4 and will this unique 45mm focal length convince the users to part with their money?

According to the press release, the AF 45mm F1.8 FE has the minimum object distance of 0.45m. Vignetting, distortion and chromatic aberration are well-controlled, and it’s the ideal lens for photographing kids and animals. Samyang has completed a new lens design optimized for high-resolution mirrorless cameras, using modern design with special lenses.

High resolution and compact design

The lens uses 6 groups of 7 lens elements, including two ASP,(Aspherical) lens and 1 ED(Extra-low Dispersion) glass lenses help to control a variety of aberrations and distortions for consistent and even illumination and sharpness. The rounded nine-blades and F1.8 bright aperture produce a pleasing out-of-focus quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques. AF 45mm F1.8 has enhanced the Auto Focus speed with superior resolution.
