Since launching the JIOSPACE Photography Awards 2023 in October 2023, it has attracted thousands of entries across three categories. The judges have struggled to identify the best photos from the good ones.
In conjunction with the JIOSPACE PHOTO FESTIVAL 2024, the JIOSPACE Photography Awards 2023 (JPA 2023) was seen as a finale to the grand closing of the photo festival. JPA 2023 has dished out a total of RM80,000 worth of cash and products as winning prizes, one of the biggest in recent local photography competitions.
JPA 2023 was organised by JIOSPACE together with its co-organiser Artishutter Studio, This exciting competition aims to celebrate the art of photography and promote the vibrant life and culture of Petaling Jaya, starting from Section 19. The JIOSPACE PJ Photography Awards 2023 is the brainchild of Sean Ng, the CEO and founder of Jio Buddy Sdn Bhd, who brings a wealth of experience organising successful photography competitions. “Encouraging the Essence of Section 19 in Petaling Jaya: This competition motivates photographers to capture the vibrant life and activities in the Section 19 vicinity, home to JIOSPACE. This initiative fosters the creation of captivating photographic content within this lively community” says Sean.
There are three competition categories, namely PORTRAIT@JIOSPACE where all portraits must be shot within the vicinity of JIOSPACE, LIFE@JIOSPACE – Photographs should depict the life and environment within JIOSPACE and MY SECTION 19 – This open category allows photographers to showcase Section 19 PJ in their own unique way.
Apart from the overall grand prize of RM8,000 (RM4,000 Cash & RM4,000 Cash vouchers), in each category, winners will take home ten consolation prizes worth RM1000 each (RM500 cash & RM500 cash vouchers), 3rd place RM3,000 (RM1000 cash & RM2,000 cash vouchers), 2nd Place RM5,000 (RM2000 cash & RM3,000 cash vouchers) and 1st place RM6,000 (RM3000 cash & RM3,000 cash vouchers). The grand prize winner photo is chosen from the 1st place winners of each category.
